TRANS- is a type of ceremonial construction in which, true to its form, there is both spectator and participant. It permits both collective and individual experiences of varying intensities that do not contradict each other. It is a space that allows a responsible investigation into ‘immanent violence’ – that is, the tyranny embedded in language itself and that which appears like a Hydra, as the apotheosis of contemporary violence. By describing everything they see with the aim of explicit clarity, the performers expose everything that surrounds them – including themselves and their own inadequacies. Normativity will be reproduced when they fail to go beyond their own habitual bodies, though the intent is to find cracks in the language system from which a new sympathetic magic can emerge.
